ComputerInterfaces

A Computer Interface is necessary to connect your vibrator to your computer. It allows the electrical signals generated by your teledildonics software to activate your vibrator in some manner which is compatible with that device.

There are three prototype DIY types we'll discuss here - Parallel Port, USB, and Optical. The choice of which one to use is partly a personal preference, but may be dictated by the available ports on your computer or the type of teledildonic device (vibrator) you wish to attach.

The Parallel Port computer interface controls only on-off type devices. While this will cover most of user-modified vibrators, it won't control PWM types. You'll need to use the USB computer interface for that.

The USB computer interface controls both on-off and PWM type vibrators so it's the more flexible design. It is also more costly to assemble and in the software being developed currently it has a slower cycling frequency than the Parallel Port version.

If you don't frequently change the commands that are sent to your device, you won't notice any problems, but when commands are being sent quickly you'll end up with drop-outs. Later versions of the software will address this problem.

The Optical computer interface controls only on-off type devices that can be triggered by changes in light intensity.

See VibratorMods for instructions on modifying your vibrator to work with one of these Computer Interfaces.
