Linear motor

Think of a linear motor as a multiphase motor which has been unrolled, or as a group of solenoids arranged in a line.
Each of the coils is energized sequentially. As the core is accelerated toward the center of a given coil, the energy to that coil is shut off and the next coil is energized, producing linear motion.
The little guy is a machine which uses a linear motor to control a dildo.
