- Recording Device
- Collects information through sensors and creates a teledildonic media stream.
- Playback Device
- Receives and plays a teledildonic media stream.
- Recording Only Device
- A device which can generate a teledildonic media stream, but has no playback ability. An example might be an artificial vagina which measures penetration depth and diameter. Not to be confused with a phallus.
- Sending Only Device
- A device which plays a teledildonic stream, but has no sensors. For example, an artificial vagina which replays parallel axis motion and vibration.
- Half Duplex Device
- Can record or play back, but not at the same time
- Full Duplex Device
- Can record and play back at the same time
- Catcher
- A device intended to receive a penis, finger, or similar object.
- Pitcher
- A device intended for insertion in an orifice
- Virtual Device
- A software device which takes the place of an unavailable recording or playback device. For example, if the receiving party has a device which vibrates, but the sending party has no device capable of recording vibration, a virtual device could provide the media stream required to control vibration.
